چکیده

Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by the fungus Zymoseptoria tritici, is a major constraint in global wheat production. The lack of genetic diversity modern elite cultivars largely hinders improvement STB resistance. Wheat landraces are reservoirs untapped diversity, which can be exploited to find novel resistance genes or alleles. Here, we characterized 188 Swiss for using four Z. isolates. We used genome-wide association study (GWAS) identify variants associated with amount lesion and pycnidia production fungus. majority were highly resistant both traits isolate 1E4, indicating gene-for-gene relationship, while higher phenotypic variability was observed against other GWAS detected significant SNP on chromosome 3A that 1E4. response 1E4 likely controlled Stb6 gene. Sanger sequencing revealed these ~ 100-year-old carry allele. This indicates importance this gene Switzerland during early 1900s disease control field. Our demonstrates characterizing historic landrace collections provide valuable information contributing will help breeders future make decisions integrating such germplasms breeding.

Genome-Wide Association Study of Septoria tritici Blotch Resistance in Ethiopian Durum Wheat Landraces

Septoria tritici blotch (STB) is a devastating fungal disease affecting durum and bread wheat cultivation worldwide. The identification, development, and employment of resistant wheat genetic material is the key to overcoming costs and limitations of fungicide treatments. The search for resistance sources in untapped genetic material may speed up the deployment of STB genetic resistance in the ...

Quantitative expression analysis of candidate genes for Septoria tritici blotch resistance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by the ascomycete fungus Mycosphaerella graminicola (asexual stage: Septoria tritici), is one of the most important foliar diseases of wheat. In this research, quantitative expression analysis of five candidate genes for the induction of resistance to STB (PR-1, Bsi, Msr, Per, and Ppi) was conducted in the wheat cultivars ‘Seri 82’ (susceptible) and ‘Fronta...

Sources of resistance and susceptibility to Septoria tritici blotch of wheat

An association genetics analysis was conducted to investigate the genetics of resistance to Septoria tritici blotch, caused by the fungus Zymoseptoria tritici (alternatively Mycosphaerella graminicola), in cultivars and breeding lines of wheat (Triticum aestivum) used in the UK between 1860 and 2000. The population was tested with Diversity Array Technology (DArT) and simple-sequence repeat (SS...

Partial Resistance to Septoria Tritici Blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola) in Wheat Cultivars Arina and Riband.

ABSTRACT Partial resistance to Septoria tritici blotch (STB) and its inheritance were investigated in a doubled-haploid population of a cross between cvs. Arina and Riband. The former has good partial resistance whereas the latter is susceptible. In adult plant trials in polytunnels, STB disease scores were negatively correlated with heading date. Resistance was not specific to any of the three...
